The quickest fix is often just swapping the cable. Grab a different USB-C cable, preferably an Apple-certified one, and try connecting again. If that doesn't work, a force restart on your iPhone 16 is a great next step, press and release the Volume Up button, press and release the Volume Down button, then press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.

Check Your USB-C Cable and Port
